Mmmm, watery...

So I've decided to get back into actual paints. My favourite medium has always been water colours for both look and approach. I always find that it's quite the challenge to make it do what you want it to but well worth it if you know how.

I'm ok with what came out considering how long it's been since I touched it but there's still a long road ahead.

A group of local cubs came into our studio the other day. Being one of the only employees left in the building I was quickly surrounded by tiny people wondering how we did things.

When it came time to show them that we can draw on tablets they started shouting ( some right next to my ears ) what they wanted to see.

One thing led to another and this guy was born... in a much more sketchy design.

Then I made him better. It was fun to see/hear the weirdo ideas they had. Such imagination yet still too young to join the industry... oh well.

Here's the second commission I've been working on for a friend. It was quite the challenge cause I'm not used to rendering BGs like this but I think I managed :D

It was definitely fun to challenge myself like that though. Everybody should be doing that if you ask me.

Kitty Pryde the second...

This is the second version of the Kitty Pryde challenge my friends and I ( well, mostly them... I kinda jumped on the bandwagon later on :) gave ourselves. The first was to draw Kitty Pryde in our own style, coming out of a wall, and her dragon friend had to be in there somewhere.

The second version was of the same exact layout but in a style of the other's choice that, in their mind, would be opposite to our's. So they decided I should do a Golden Age/Silver Age comic style.

So here she is.

I based her a lot on the old Phantom Lady comics and then a mix of dinosaurs and monsters from the aera.

PS - If anybody has a good way of getting the pixelation to look good on the small scale, please let me know. I had a hard time getting a version small enough to upload but big enough to keep the details. Thanks in advance.

This is Super Girl... duh. This is just another something to force myself to learn new techniques and skills so all you talented younglings ( that one's for you Ray ) don't have as easy a time stealing my job :P

So the more I looked at the first SuperGirl, the more I hated her. And then I saw what my buddy Ray ( http://rocom.deviantart.com/ ) has been doing with female characters and really had to punch it up a bit... ok, a lot. So here's mark 2. Background to come later. And tweaks to come later too.

Kitty Pryde

So some friends of mine ( [link] [link] and a lady who should really have a page on DA... ) challenge themselves to drawing tests with twists and things. I joined in on this month's one ( Kitty Pryde ) a little late but hey, wha'dya gonna do, right?This one was to setup Kitty Pryde going through a wall and throw in her little dragon friend. I've never really looked into her so this was fun. The next step is to do another one but in a totally different style. One that isn't your's. Should be fun.If anybody has a trick on how to do hair, I would looooove to hear it. I'm not at all confident with my approach ( and final product ). I was always one to draw bald heads or hats.Cheers.

I've never tried this before but with the Deviant Art/Eve contest's cool prizes I thought I should force myself to try. I'm actually happy with what came of it.
And now the hard part's done, figuring out what the hell it was going to look like. Now, only the other hard part of figuring out the views is left....... eep!

So I've been away for a while. I've finally been able to do something creative too, surprise surprise.
