Yes, this is of the royal wedding. No, I'm not a preteen girl. I'm doing bits and pieces so that Meeka ( wife o' mine ) cane maybe sell them at her craft shows. There are plans a brewin'.

Rugged Men...

So I haven't posted in a while now cause of the BG post ( below this one ), but I've been warming up my drawering arm with some new Prismacolor art markers. They're super fun to play with and have been talking to a fabulous artist about his technique. The next ones should be smoother and junk :D

It's been a while since I updated with some Joe Average stuff. This is why. Here's the first fully built BG for the show. This is also the first production BG I've ever really done so there's probably lots wrong with it but I still like it. Ask me again in a few months and my thoughts may have switched but for now, I'm happy. Cheers.

JA Hero batch 01...

Still working on creating the life for our show. Here are examples of what the heroes might end up looking like. They're mostly background characters although some might come out every now and then.

Another set of random characters. I just needed to make enough schmucks to make a bar look like there's actual people there.

Since there's still lots to do on this show I'm going for old fashion animation trickery to make it look really filled by using 6 or so different characters.

So now that all the mains are set in stone ( just not built yet ), I decided to tackle the secondaries. Here are 3 versions of the boss. I tried to keep him as nerdy gamer as possible with a touch of successful.

The first guy's the boss. Second is a character called cool Tim ( he's cool ). The third is a run o' da mill douchy guy.

Could this be the final Dee? Who knows? But I think so. Or she's super close.

Dee and other Dees...

Here's a mix of what we liked with the other 2 versions of Distraction Girl. The helmet was starting to look a little on the big side so I think it's getting replaced by a good ol' hero mask. That thing on the far right's a shield from the front.

Dee is for Distraction Girl

This is Dee as her superhero self ( or the first version of ). She's basically a law inforcer on her home planet. She does something mac-nasty ( hush hush ) and looses her powers ( and sense of fashion ). Enjoy.

Joe Average and the gang...

So here's the gang. Joe, Nixxon, and Dee ( originally Distraction Girl until she lost her powers ).

Stay tuned for adventures with accident prone Joe and he and his best friend Nixxon ( who's not necessarily smarter, but just a little more... observant ) in a world where supeheroes run rampant like superstars, are on all smutt mags like superstars, and get the highest privileges like superstars... ok, they're the superstars of this world.

And meet the fallen Amazon from her home planet of [ not decided yet ]. Dee joins the gang when her peers decide she doesn't deserve her powers anymore ( maybe she should have kept it in her pants ).

PS - the sketches are of Dee in her supersuit ( so I guess it should be Distraction Girl's supersuit... but don't tell anybody her identity or she'll pound ya a good one )

Life and it's details...

Alright, so now I'm trying my hand at painting. It started as a speed painting challenge. Then 2 or 3 attempts after, it changed to BG speed painting. Then whatever category this would be in.

The composition's weird but I wasn't really thinking finished project when I started it. But then I saw this fine artist's work ( [link] ) and got inspired.

As frustrating as it was to start, I like the process now and will keep plugging at it.

Mmmm, watery...

So I've decided to get back into actual paints. My favourite medium has always been water colours for both look and approach. I always find that it's quite the challenge to make it do what you want it to but well worth it if you know how.

I'm ok with what came out considering how long it's been since I touched it but there's still a long road ahead.

A group of local cubs came into our studio the other day. Being one of the only employees left in the building I was quickly surrounded by tiny people wondering how we did things.

When it came time to show them that we can draw on tablets they started shouting ( some right next to my ears ) what they wanted to see.

One thing led to another and this guy was born... in a much more sketchy design.

Then I made him better. It was fun to see/hear the weirdo ideas they had. Such imagination yet still too young to join the industry... oh well.

Wipeout the commission...

Here's the second commission I've been working on for a friend. It was quite the challenge cause I'm not used to rendering BGs like this but I think I managed :D

It was definitely fun to challenge myself like that though. Everybody should be doing that if you ask me.
